Angoulême (NO) 38 km: Capital of the Charente, originally the centre of the county. Since 1515 centre of the Dukedom of Angoumois. Important Roman cathedral with a magnificent facade.

La Rochefoucauld (NO) 65 km: An old town with a monumental renaissance castle. The Son et Lumiere , a performance about the history and the region of the castle, is really worth seeing, especially for children.
