Download: touristic map of the Charente
The region
Logis de Beaulieu is situated 500km South of Paris and 37km South of Angouleme, the capital of the Department. The Charente is marked by a picturesque landscape with vineyards, pine, oak, and chestnut woods, as well as wheat, sunflower and corn fields.
The Charente is the home of Cognac. The vineyards contribute to the beauty of the landscape, and the final product - the world famous Cognac Brandy - is of significant cultural and economic importance for the region.

Only some 20km to the South, the Departement Dordogne begins, with its numerous old castles and famous caves.
Climate
The climate is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, which is only 80km to the West of Beaulieu.
From autumn to spring the weather is mild. During summer (middle of June until the end of September) the temperatures range between 25 and 35°C. These temperatures may often occur in May already, and last until October.
Wine and food
For wine lovers Logis de Beaulieu is an excellent destination: to the West are the famous Cotes de Bourg and the Medoc, to the South-West, the Entre-Deux-Mers, Graves, Saint-Emilion, Bergerac and Santernes vineyards, and to the North-West, very nearby, lays the world famous Cognac region.
For anyone who likes good food, Charente is perfect! The daily markets in the area offer a large variety of quality seafood, vegetables, fruit, meat, regional cheeses (goat cheese is a speciality here) and, of course, the famous Marennes oysters.
Other regional specialities include artichokes, melons, chestnuts, mushrooms and foie gras.
